TextPrep (“TextPrep,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), operated by Natick Media LLC dba TextPrep at TextPrep.org, provides a daily test-prep practice service delivered by SMS/MMS text message. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

Mobile information is never sold or shared with third parties for their own marketing. No mobile opt-in data or phone numbers are shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Text-messaging consent is not shared with any third party except the providers that help us deliver the messages you asked for.

1. Who this service is for & minors

TextPrep is intended for students preparing for standardized tests, many of whom are 16 or 17 years old. The service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you are under 18, you must have your parent or guardian review this policy and our Terms of Service and agree to your enrollment. A parent or guardian may contact us at any time to review, update, or delete their student’s information.

2. Information we collect

We collect only what we need to send your daily question, manage your account, and process payment:

  • Mobile phone number — to deliver questions and your one-time sign-in code (sent by text), and as your account identifier.
  • Name and email address — when you contact us or, optionally, for receipts.
  • Test preferences — your test type, test date, daily delivery time, time zone, and question-mix weighting.
  • Practice activity — the questions sent to you, your answers, whether they were correct, and your streak — so we can show your history and tailor practice.
  • Payment information — processed by our payment provider (Stripe). We do not store your full card number; we keep a record of the amount, date, payment method type (e.g. card, Apple Pay, Google Pay), and card brand for receipts and accounting.
  • Referral information — a referral code and, if you were referred, who referred you.
  • Consent records — the date, time, and exact opt-in language you agreed to, and your STOP/START/HELP requests, to honor your choices and meet legal requirements.
  • Support messages — any message you send us that isn’t a practice answer or a STOP/START/HELP request (for example, a question or a request for help), which we keep for a limited time so we can read it and respond.
  • Scores and feedback — your test score, if you choose to tell us, and any rating or comment you give us about TextPrep. Both are optional. We use them to see how well the service is working and to make it better.
  • Limited technical data — basic device/browser information and, for web consent, your IP address and user agent, used for security and fraud prevention.

3. How we use your information

  • Send your one daily practice question and its explanation, at the time you chose.
  • Authenticate you with a one-time code sent by text (we don’t use passwords).
  • Process your one-time payment and send receipts.
  • Maintain your history, streaks, and the questions you missed.
  • Improve our question bank using aggregate, de-identified performance data (e.g. what share of students answer a question correctly).
  • Create anonymous, combined statistics — for example, the average score change across all students — that don’t identify you.
  • Send service messages, including an optional post-test note asking how you did, to improve the program.
  • Operate our referral program and prevent abuse.
  • Respond to your support requests and comply with the law.

4. Text messaging

By providing your mobile number and opting in, you consent to receive recurring automated test-prep text messages (up to 4 messages per day — your daily question, feedback when you reply, and occasional service messages). Consent is not a condition of purchase. Message and data rates may apply. Message frequency varies. Reply STOP at any time to cancel all messages. Reply START to resume, or HELP for help. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. As stated above, we do not share your mobile opt-in or phone number with third parties for marketing.

5. How we share information

We share information with service providers solely to facilitate the delivery of our services (e.g., sending text messages via Twilio); these providers are strictly prohibited from using your mobile data for their own marketing purposes.

  • Twilio — SMS/MMS delivery.
  • Stripe — payment processing.
  • Supabase — database.
  • Vercel — hosting and app delivery.
  • Resend — sending transactional email (receipts, payment confirmations, and service notices).
  • Cloudflare — bot and abuse prevention (see Security).
  • Plausible — privacy-focused, cookieless site analytics.

We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect our rights or users’ safety, or in connection with a merger or sale of the business (you will be notified of any such change).

6. Data retention

We keep your account and practice data while your enrollment is active and for a reasonable period afterward to support receipts, returning users, and our legal obligations. We retain consent and opt-out records as long as required by applicable law. You can request deletion at any time (see Your choices).

We keep scores and feedback you’ve shared for as long as we keep your practice data. Anonymous, combined statistics may be kept indefinitely, because they no longer identify anyone.

We keep support messages for a limited time — currently 30 days — and then automatically delete their content.

Cancelling messages does not automatically delete your account or practice history.

7. Security

We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards to protect your information, including access controls and encryption in transit. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Bot and abuse prevention

To protect our signup form and other forms from automated abuse, spam, and fraud, we use Cloudflare Turnstile, a security service provided by Cloudflare, Inc. Turnstile runs in your browser to check whether a visitor is likely human. It performs this check invisibly, without showing you a challenge or requiring any action from you. To do this, Turnstile processes limited technical signals from your browser and device, such as your IP address and user-agent information. Cloudflare acts as our service provider and processes these signals on our behalf for this security purpose. For details on how Cloudflare handles this information, see the Cloudflare Turnstile Privacy Addendum.

8. Your choices & rights

  • Stop messages: reply STOP at any time.
  • Access & update: sign in with a one-time code sent by text to view and change your preferences and history.
  • Deletion: request deletion of your account and data by contacting us.
  • Parents/guardians: contact us to review, change, or delete a student’s information.

Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the CCPA/CPRA or similar state privacy laws. We honor those rights where they apply. We do not sell or “share” personal information as those terms are defined under such laws.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the date above and, where appropriate, notify you. Your continued use of TextPrep after a change means you accept the updated policy.
